1.On my mind:
**Insert blanket statement about not making resolutions here**
That said, I don’t completely skip out on the opportunity to reflect on the past year in terms of progress, life changes, and what I’d like to introduce/eliminate/tweak going forward. I will also admit that I like to pick a word or theme for myself, and create a little inspiration page in my Notes app that I’ll add to throughout the year.
So marching into 2024 on the horizon of a very exciting professional endeavor and with the gratitude for the health and stability of my family and friends, 2024 is shaping up to be about moving onward and upward, cleaning up loose ends as new looms come into focus for me to begin weaving bigger, brighter, and more fulfilling things. There’s a feeling of expansion about the new year, too – and again, I don’t mean it in a commercial ‘new year, new you!’ sense (though if that’s something you’re feeling, that rocks, too), but more in terms of a new personal and professional traction, an ability to grab the tools I need and start making things with them that I’m proud of. At large, I think socially there’s a great amount of friction that might be particularly activating to communities of all types (with results that may vary). Suffice it to say, for once I’m excited, I’m grateful, and I’m staying flexible, focused, and fortitudinous, and hope that you’re feeling the same energy and are ready to spring into action that feels right and does good for you and yours.
Stay well, folks, and Happy New Year. May it be a safe, happy, and healthy one.
2. On my counter:
The last of some cinnamon rolls that I made en masse for work on Christmas morning and froze (strategically) for Poppa to enjoy throughout the week for breakfast. I’ve been wanting to try this recipe or even going for something more creative, but knowing I’d have to have a batch ready for work at 3:30AM, I relied on an ol’faithful option!
3.On Poppa Carnivore’s Menu:
M: Pancetta and parm-stuffed pork chop with mashed potatoes and buttery peas
T: Caesar Pasta Salad with shrimp
W: Minestrone with crusty bread
H: Baked polenta casserole (with ground beef for Poppa, but as is, this would be a great plant-based option)
4.Onto the finale:
What I agree that 2024 will smell like and taste like. (Also, my random guesses also include lots of stuffed desserts and more tiramisu)
What I agree will get you pumped to persevere in 2024.
5.Off the cuff:
No more in 2024.
